After a school year filled with responsibilities, your children can relax during the vacation. However, it's important to keep students engaged in academic activities to prevent learning losses. For this reason at The Tutoring Center in Humble, we created the following post containing useful advice on encouraging your children to read over the summer.

Summer Reading

Take Your Children to the Library

Visiting your local library is the first stop towards instilling this habit in your children, as they will find there the material that suits their interests. You can also find summer reading programs that will trigger their curiosity.

Create a Reading Nook

Creating the right setting to read can also motivate your children to grab a book, and it will also allow you control the environment to make their reading more efficient. Find a quiet space in your home and furnish it with comfortable furniture and the right lighting; make sure to get them involved in the process.

Schedule

Your children should allocate at least 20 minutes a day to boost their reading comprehension and skills. However, this shouldn't feel like an order, instead try joining them or reading aloud to make things more dynamic. Remember that this summer is also a great opportunity to practice their knowledge and other academic skills while getting entertained, so be sure to read our post containing fun ways to learn.
