Improve Your Youngster's Grades in the Sun

If you have been looking for some educational and fun activities to do with your youngster before the summer period ends, below are some great ideas from The Tutoring Center, Humble to help you out.

Writing Picnic

If your youngster has been struggling with writing or just doesn’t seem to enjoy it, build a positive connection with the task by taking it outdoors and making it fun! Pack what you need for an enjoyable picnic and head to your favorite park or outdoor area. After a few games of tag or playing on the equipment, sit down and write a short story about anything you like. This could be a diary entry of the day they’re having or a story about a character from a book they have been reading. Not only can this help to encourage a positive connection with writing, it also allows you to identify any grammar or spelling challenges they may be facing.

How About Reading?

If reading is your student’s biggest struggle area, then the same picnic idea can be used but focused on reading. Stop by the bookstore beforehand and allow your student to choose a book of their liking, then buy two copies. Together, read in the park, but instead of just reading until you get tired, stop after each chapter to discuss the book, how the story is going, and where you think it is going. You can even make small bets with the person who predicts the next chapter’s events winning a small treat. You included!
